Dear Reader,

We continue the tradition and philosophy of two families, the Alexanders and the Wallace-Chapmans, who served their communities by caring for good health and a good quality of life. I'm proud to be a Director of the company and to carry that tradition forward.

Where it all began

I was born in a small Prussian town in the third quarter of the 20th century – a period that has always fascinated me, largely because my grandfather, a forestry and agricultural engineer, talked about it so often.

My passion for medicine came from my uncle, a professor at Atlanta University. His work in The Structure and Function of Muscle (edited by Geoffrey Bourne) impressed me enough that I decided to study veterinary medicine.

My “Veterinary Father”

Since 2016, the renowned veterinary surgeon Tom Bingham has been my “Veterinary Father”. He passed on his inexhaustible passion for Bulldogs and Greyhounds, and working alongside him has been a great privilege.

What keeps me going

I've always loved problem-solving, especially in health and medicine – possibly thanks to the family's “scientific gene”. My particular interests are animal dentistry and orthopaedics, along with a lifelong curiosity about metabolic health.

Come and say hello

I welcome a wide range of people and their animals, from routine check-ups to emergencies, 24 hours a day, every day. Whoever you are, I look forward to getting to know you in person.

Warm regards,
Dr John Alexander

Care, the old-fashioned way

We carry on the tradition of two families, the Alexanders and the Wallace-Chapmans, who served their communities by caring for good health and a good quality of life. It all comes back to a few simple promises.

  • Every pet, treated as our own

With patience, kindness and the very best care we can give. It's how we'd want our own family's pets looked after.

  • Family-run, never a chain

Independent since day one, carrying on the tradition of two families. Day or night, you'll always see our own team.

  • Honest and fair

We'll only ever suggest what your pet truly needs, talk the options through with you and give you a written estimate at your consultation.

  • Always learning

Dr John has never stopped learning since joining the RCVS Register in 2006, so your pet gets thoughtful, up-to-date care.

Scientists, inventors and engineers

John has long wanted to write an educational book – but for now he's happy to leave that to the English branch of the family.
