A welcome from Dr. John Alexander,

At Alexander-Wallace and Vintage Vet Practice, we believe that companies mean people. We continue the tradition and philosophy of two families, the Alexanders and the Wallace-Chapmans, who served their communities by caring for good health and a good quality of life. I'm proud to be a Director of the company and to carry that tradition forward.

Where it all began

I was born in a small Prussian town in the third quarter of the 20th century. That period of history has always fascinated me, largely because my grandfather, a forestry and agricultural engineer, talked about it so often.

My passion for medicine was inspired by my uncle, a professor at Atlanta University. His work on The Structure and Function of Muscle (edited by Geoffrey Bourne, ISBN 978-0-12-119102-3) impressed me enough that I decided to study veterinary medicine. It's a decision I have never regretted, and I've never stopped learning. My most recent certificate was awarded by the University of Bristol.

My "Veterinary Father"

Since 2016, the renowned veterinary surgeon Tom Bingham has been my "Veterinary Father". He passed on to me his inexhaustible passion for Bulldogs and Greyhounds, and working alongside him has been a great privilege.

My motivation

I've always loved problem-solving, especially in health and medicine, possibly thanks to my family's "scientific gene". My particular interests are animal dentistry and orthopaedics, along with a lifelong curiosity about metabolic health.

It has long been my ambition to write an educational book, but I'm resigned to leaving that to the English branch of my family! Their subjects run from the autobiographical to the scientific:

My combined English and European family lines include scientists, inventors and engineers. So as a veterinary surgeon, my approach rests on a highly diverse, yet unusually relevant, base of shared knowledge and research.
